Elmer obtained a BS in Fisheries Management from The Ohio State University. He has 30+ years of experience; raising muskies and other fish species at State Fish Hatcheries and working with other biologist managing bass, muskies, crappie and saugeye populations at local and State levels. Finally, he was responsible for the administration of all six ODNR Division of Wildlife’s State Fish Hatcheries before retiring.Elmer’s recognition as a successful fisherman, especially structure fishing has led to invitations to present fishing seminars in Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio. His favorite target fish are muskies and he has landed over 1,000 “skis” with the help of family and friends out of his boat. He joined the Ohio Huskie Muskie Club soon after graduating college and was president of the Buckeye Muskie Hunters from 1980-83. He joined Muskies, Inc. in the early1990’s and currently holds the positions of Program Director, Youth Director and PR Director for his local chapter, #41 of Muskies, Inc. In 2013, he accepted a two year term as the VP of Fisheries and Research at the national level of Muskies, Inc. He has written fishing articles for In-Fisherman, Muskie Hunter, Walleye In-Sider and Muskies, Inc. He is still very actively involved with the State of Ohio’s Muskie Program and currently coordinates the Ohio “Muskie Minnow Fund” between all of the participating muskie clubs and the Division of Wildlife’s Fish Hatcheries.After being requested to provide several presentations at the new Cabela’s store in Columbus, Ohio in 2013, he accepted an invitation to join their pro-staff. In 2015 he began providing muskie fishing seminars at the new Columbus Fishing Expo. In 2017 he joined the Garmin Marine Pro Staff and gave his first presentations featuring Garmin Electronics at the Columbus Fish Expo. He still provides fishing seminars across the state, occasionally provides fishing clinics to private corporations for profit and guides locally for charity causes.
